God's Will

From every stormy wind that blows,
From every swelling tide of woes,
There is a calm, a sure retreat,
'Tis found beneath the mercy seat.

There is a place where Jesus sheds
The oil of gladness on our heads;
A place where all besides more sweet,
It is the blood-bought mercy seat.

There is a scene where spirits blend,
Where friend holds fellowship with friend;
Though sundered far, by faith they meet
Around one common mercy seat.

There, there, on eagles’ wings we soar,
And time and sense seem all no more;
And heaven comes down, our souls to greet,
And glory crowns the mercy seat.

Oh, let my hand forget her skill,
My tongue be silent, cold, and still,
This bounding heart forget to beat,
If I forget the mercy seat!
Hugh Stowell

Lord, help me to remember that my times are in Your sovereign hands. That I am nothing without You. I need your wisdom to guide me day by day. I might think that I know what's best for me, but in reality I am so small and insignificant compared to Your majesty and power. Help me to trust You even when I don't understand why certain things happen. My future sometimes seems so unclear. I pray I would not be anxious and full of fear- help me to rest in You. In Your Name, Amen.

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

I know that God has been showing this to you lately. What wonderful things he is teaching you, and I am blessed by your response to these lessons!

What a sweet and thoughtful and God-honoring post, Sara. I love this hymn. It's so appropriate for us all to remember. I'm thankful for the sovereignty of God. If you keep your trust in Him, you'll be just fine.
